For a complete recharge, we enjoyed a weeks stay at Felicity’s Shepherds Hut set in the olive groves above Scicli. This area of Sicily is easily reached from Catania airport and we visited amazing churches and art galleries in the beautiful nearby towns of Scicli and Ragusa and still had time to drop down to the beautiful sandy beaches of Sampieri and Marina di Modica to swim in the warm shallow seas every afternoon. The traditional stone-built hut is spacious and cool, open plan living with a comfortable king size bed, a modern shower room with lots of hot water. It is well equipped for cooking for simple suppers inside at the large table, or sitting out on the terrace enjoying the sunsets through the olive trees.

We had a beautiful tranquil and restorative week in Felicity’s gorgeous cottage, it is simple, yet extremely comfortable and well-equipped, with wonderful views from the terrace across the fields of carob trees. It is the perfect location, being 10 minutes drive to the local baroque town of Scicli where you can find wonderful restaurants and a small supermarket, and 20 minutes drive south to the stunning beach at Sampieri. Felicity was an exceptional host, being incredibly helpful with local restaurant/café recommendations, food shopping tips and places to visit, both in Scicli and in the other nearby baroque towns and coastal areas. Thank you for everything Felicily, we hope to be back, it was more than perfect!

From the very first moment Felicity hosted us in a way we can’t even describe. She really cared, she actually gave us great recommendations for local food/ driveways / and things we must see 🙏🏼 Everything felt right, simple to understand and literally we felt at home. We loved the beautiful home, the village, the views, the roads, that was our slow- Sicilian style holiday. Location was lovely, not far from towns like Sicli/ Modica/ and the beaches We loved everything 10/10 I recommend it 💚🙏🏼

We had a wonderful week at Shepherds Cottage Retreat. The beautifully restored stone cottage is full of character, with high ceilings, natural stone walls, and a warm, peaceful atmosphere. It was the perfect place to relax and disconnect from everyday life. The surrounding olive groves made every morning and evening special. Although secluded, Scicli and several beautiful beaches are just a short drive away- we would definitely recommend getting a car. The cottage was spotless, well equipped, we can fully recommend the stay.

Perfect rural retreat. Our second stay at this gorgeous cottage. Simple, rustic but everything you need for a perfect stay. The shower room is superb. We loved the sun terrace with shade if you want. Perfect location for exploring numerous gorgeous, and quiet, beaches and wonderful baroque towns. Felicity (the owner) was a joy to deal with. We’ll be back.
